Exploring Chorleywood with the U3A authors

Location

The Junction, Christ Church, Chorleywood, WD3 5SG

Event description

Exploring Chorleywood is the history of our village. Through pictures, maps, interviews and historical material it describes how the village has grown from a few isolated farms and hamlets to the thriving village that we know today, and looks at some of the people who have influenced that development.

The best way to explore Chorleywood is on foot. The book sets out a route that takes us from Chorleywood’s earliest history in the valley of the River Chess, through the centuries when the tollgate was the centre of the village, to the modern period that followed on from the arrival of the railway in 1889 and in due course the building of the M25.

Join Chorleywood Bookshop and the authors of 'Exploring Chorleywood' Sue Clark, David Hiddleston, Hugh Howes, Gillian Pugh and Valerie Steel on Saturday February 16th for a fascinating afternoon delving into the very heart and the past of Chorleywood!
